Mizoram: Insider Travel Guide and Tips

Mizoram is a blue paradise in the group of seven sister states of North East India. The setting is such that you will feel that its beauty has been preserved well in this time when industrialization has ruined nature’s bounties for the worse.

You can see sparkling waterfalls, green-carpeted hills which look benevolent rather than mighty and dramatic and striking gorges.

There is an exotic mix of flora and fauna as Mizoram has a good forest cover across the state. The temperate climate is further favorable for tourists to take up exploration and sightseeing.

Now, talking in terms of location, Mizoram shares its boundaries nationally with the states Assam, Manipur, and Tripura on the northern side. Also, international boundaries have Bangladesh and Myanmar set in adjacent positions with it.

A plus point for tourists is that English is taught in schools widely and hence it’s understood well but one thing to keep in mind that people might not be that good in speaking so they may respond with a very few phrases or words.

Let us further have a look at the state through the following travel guide:

Best Time To Visit Mizoram

Mizoram sees three seasons broadly.

During the months of May continuing up till September, the state has a rainy season which makes the surroundings very wet and the climate becomes very humid, so it is a ‘not so good’ time for traveling and sightseeing.

Winters and early summers, which are there in the months of October to March, mark the best time to visit Mizoram.

The temperature ranges between 11 degrees and 29 degrees during these months (on Celsius scale), which is also fairly good for trying out adventure sports suiting the terrain.

How to Reach Mizoram?

Reaching by Flight

It’s very easy to reach Mizoram and also it’s pretty easy to move around once you reach. People planning to arrive by air can first take a flight to Kolkata and Guwahati after which a connecting flight of a short duration (ranging from 1 hour to 30 minutes) can be taken to reach Lengpui Airport (the one and only airport in Mizoram).

Reaching by Road

Thereafter, a cab whether personal or shared can be hired as per convenience to move to the city. Also, there is a per passenger basis vehicle which will take very nominal charges to drop you in the city. If a connecting flight is not preferable then you can come via National Highway-24 which runs from Silchar (Assam) to the state.

Reaching by Rail

By Rail is not highly recommended as the rail connects only the northern part of the state i.e. Bairabi in Kolasib District. So after this ultimately move has to be made by road and it will be a lot of distance to cover.
