When in Japan, rent a pocket Wi-Fi to save you from getting lost in the streets of Japan. Tokyo is Massive and huge and you need navigation to move to little places in Tokyo. Google Maps is the only savior in times of need in Japan. If you intend on walking in Japan, having a mobile hotspot will turn out to be the best thing to avail internet anywhere you go. 

 

No tipping

This might sound like something crazy, but you don’t have to tip anyone in Japan be it taxi drivers, waiters, or bartenders. People of Japan feel insulted if you leave any money as a tip. Pay whatever is the price and do not tip anything as it will make the people feel awkward. 

 

Tattoos are simply not allowed

Tattoos are getting common nowadays but there is still some stigma related to tattoos and not everyone accepts it in a good way. When in Japan, if you visit a traditional onsen, then people with tattoos are not allowed inside. It is better to hide it if you have one!

 

Fewer trash cans

Public trash cans are quite a few in Japan and you will not find many here. Keeping a plastic bag comes in handy if you intend on throwing anything or if you are traveling. Plastic bags come in handy if you eat street foods. You might have to carry the plates with you for quite some time till you find a trash can. 

 

Carry cash

Most travelers prefer to carry cash than any other mode of payment. Cash is accepted in many business houses and service centers such as restaurants and shops. Many large hotels and apartments will accept debit and credit cards but they will be checked properly before making a purchase. However, there are numerous ATMs in Japan making it easy to withdraw cash whenever you need it. 

 

Sushi is not their only dish

While sushi is known as the best Japanese food, other traditional foods are simply amazing. Some of the iconic food lists include Ramen which is noodles and vegetables with protein and boiled egg prepared in a rich broth. The Japanese steamed buns which are usually made from pork and beef stuffed with sweet fillings. Kakigori is an iced fruit made with condensed milk. The sheerness with which sushi is made makes it quite an authentic dish of Japan.

Japan mainly depends on public transport and everything becomes easy if you know Metro Know. Purchase a pail pass if you want to travel to different regions of Japan. Tourists can opt for a specific region or countrywide unlimited pass in the bullet trains known as Shinkansen, buses, and ferries. Japan is always on time and very convenient to travel. The Metro runs between 11.30 pm to 1.30 am and there is a huge rush at some points in time. 

 

No Visa for Japan

Japanese Government has allowed citizens to travel to Japan without any visa for a certain period. Holders of American passports or EU are allowed to enter the country without a visa for 90 days. Certain British countries including Germany can visit Japan without a visa for up to 6 months. However, there must be valid tickets and a passport for traveling to Japan.

Japan’s zoning laws named Kobans are located in parking lots for a greater sense of security.
